A Wheeling Police officer is recovering in a Pittsburgh hospital after being involved in a head on collision on his way to work Friday night.
Police say patrolman Harry Myers was struck by a van that was turning left in front of Warwood plaza, just before 10:00 p.m. last night.
Myers was able to use his own police radio to call in the accident saying he was in “pretty bad shape.”
Myers was transported to Allegheny General Hospital with facial and arm lacerations and and injury to the pelvis that may require surgery.
The driver of the van was transported to Wheeling Hospital for evaluation. The Ohio County Sheriff Department is handling the investigation.
Wheeling Deputy Chief Marty Kimball says Myers is in fair condition at this time .7
