Authorities have one man in custody for allegedly robbing a gambling parlor early Thursday morning in Wheeling, but they say there may be a link to another crime.
Ohio County Sheriff’s Department say they received a report on a stolen car found at the StarFire gas station in Bridgeport, Ohio.

About 1 a.m. Thursday, Wheeling police received a call on a robbery at the Lilly’s on Kruger Street. They say the suspect went inside and asked the attendant for change, a couple of drinks and all of the money in the cash register. The attendant reportedly said no and the suspect reached into the register, taking a handful of cash and then took off running, according to police.

Upon further investigation authorities found a man had taken a taxi from the StarFire gas station in Bridgeport to Lilly’s to get money.

“The cab driver then asks the attendant working at Lilly’s, ‘I need my money, Your son said he was going to pick up money from you to pay for the cab fare'”, Sgt. Gregg McKenzie with the Wheeling Police Department said. “She in turn said, ‘that’s not my son I just got robbed.'”

Police do have a man in custody who they believe may have played a role in both crimes. His name has not been released.
