A Wheeling woman was among the more than 26,000 people who completed the Boston Marathon on Monday.
Tara Thomas finished the race with a time of 3 hours 52 minutes and 58 seconds.
Thomas is a dedicated runner who has spent the last 18 weeks training for the marathon by running some familiar courses right here in Wheeling.
She says it was a very emotional experience to be apart of, just three-years after the horrible bombings that claimed the lives of three people and injured hundreds more.
“There was lots of support for those who were injured three-years-ago. It was emotional and there were participants that ran that experienced injuries from the bombing and it was very emotional and I sobbed like a baby when they put that metal around my neck,” said Thomas.
Thomas says she feels good and even went for a two-mile run Tuesday morning.
