More than 50 new foods have been added to the list of items available for those currently enrolled in the WIC program in West Virginia.
More whole grain breads and buns, expanded cereal selections, more fruit and vegetables, and juices so those families in the WIC program can have healthier diets and lifestyles.
“WIC is a nutrition program,” Director of WIC of the Northern Panhandle Beth Dowler told WTRF.
“WIC was developed to promote better health, and WIC does have nutrition staff on board that provide nutrition counseling, so the foods just complement that because the foods are selected based on their nutrient value.”
There are WIC programs in every county in West Virginia and anyone with questions about if they qualify or to sign up for WIC can swing by or call their county office.
