The man who planned on building a multi-million dollar theme park at The Highlands has filed a $25 million lawsuit against the Ohio County Commission, the Ohio County Development Authority and the West Virginia Economic Development Authority.

Steve Minard and his company Crystal Mountain West Virginia LLC is claiming the commission used the Wild Escape project as a tool to attract new businesses to The Highlands, among other things.

7News reached out to Ohio County Solicitor, Don Tennant, who said “The Ohio County Development Authority, the Ohio County Commission, and the individual county officials involved, deny all of Mr. Minard’s allegations and will request a jury trial to be held expeditiously. The County officials did nothing wrong and gave Mr. Minard opportunity and time to meet his prerequisite obligations under the development contract, which he never met. The County is considering a motion to dismiss and various counter-claims against Mr. Minard and the County looks forward to their day in court.”
