Fans of the West Liberty University (WLU) Men’s Basketball team are gearing up for an unprecedented fifth consecutive regional crown title game between the Hilltoppers and the Crimson Hawks of Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP).

These two teams know each other well, having met in four previews regional finals. This year, the Crimson Hawks roster features former Hilltopper guard Shawn Dyer, who had a game high 23 points in IUP’s win over Slippery Rock University.

WLU Men’s Basketball Coach Jim Crutchfield expects IUP to be the best defensive team they’ve faced all season.

“They’re strong, they’re mature, they have all the bases covered,” Crutchfield said. “There is no area of the basketball game that IUP is weak at, so we’re going to have to play a really good game.

The Hilltopppers are a perfect 13-0 in regional action at home.

Game time set for 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 17.
