WLU Introduces New Sports Program

A new sports program is making its way to the Hilltop.

West Liberty University President Stephen Greiner announced Thursday that the school is adding Acrobatics and Tumbling as their 17th sport.

They expect to have the program ready for Spring 2018.

Right now the school has started a nationwide search for a head coach.

University administrators say they are excited about the added sport.

“Our goal really is to continue to grow to meet the needs not only in the Ohio Valley but also in our neighboring states of West Virginia and Ohio,” said President Dr. Stephen Greiner.

“I know a lot of cheerleaders that I’ve cheered with or work with now in the gyms in this area, and I know that it is something so many girls would be passionate about and younger ones would look forward to do,” said Casey Neely.

West Liberty joins Fairmont State, Glenville State, and West Virginia Wesleyan as the only MEC schools with an Acrobatics and Tumbling team.
