Authorities are not yet releasing the name of an elderly woman found dead in a car that drove into a western Pennsylvania lake.

The Washington County coroner’s office said witnesses saw the 71-year-old woman drive her vehicle into Canonsburg Lake about 15 miles southwest of Pittsburgh at about 7:30 a.m. Friday.

Her body was pulled from the lake about four hours later. The coroner’s office said her name is being withheld pending notification of her next of kin. Officials said pulling the vehicle from the water was hampered by the cold temperatures and a swift current.

Peters Township police chief Harry Freucht says he believes the woman is the same one who tried to drive her car into the lake last week but couldn’t because the lake was frozen.
