Woman Jumps Out of Car During Police Chase in Steubenville

Police say a man with a federal warrant allegedly led them on a chase through the city with a woman jumping out of the car during the pursuit.

Steubenville Police say Jerek Wesley led officers on a chase through the city beginning at the intersection of Washington Street and Route 7 late Sunday night. As Wesley turned onto Hill Avenue, police say a woman jumped out of the passenger side of the car. The car then stopped and Wesley reportedly got out of the car and ran between two houses. Officers checked the area but could not find him. After a search of the car, police say they  found a loaded Ruger 9mm handgun on the driver’s side of the car. Police say the gun was loaded with one bullet in the chamber and had 20 rounds in an extended magazine.

Wesley remained on the run as of Monday morning. He faces charges of failure to signal, no operators license, reckless operation as well as charges of fleeing and eluding and having weapons under disability, to be served when he is finally arrested.
