Students at Harrison Central Junior and Senior High Schools heard from world-renowned speaker and performer Elec Simon Monday morning.
Through music and crowd participation, Simon spreads his message of positivity and anti-bullying.
Simon has performed all over the country but comes home to the Ohio Valley often.
“He’s also a world-renowned musician. He played with the group STOMP and with the Cleveland Cavaliers. Kids need to see that people fro our area are successful. He’s been a great graduate from buckeye. I talked to a lot of his friends who says he was fantastic kid in high school and he’s preaching that same message now,” said Harrison Central High School Principal Brent Ripley.
“The kids were very responsive to Mr. Simon because he talked about respect and responsibility. That’s two areas we touch on everyday at the Jr. High. I always tell kids: if you’re respectful, you’re responsible, you’re going to do well in life,” said Harrison Central Junior High School Principal Ken Parker.
Principal Ripley says he got the idea to bring Simon to the school from local parents who had seen him.
Monday’s event was made possible by the Harrison County Sheriff’s Office and Juvenile Court.
