Wreaths Across America Makes Stops in Ohio Valley

Wreaths Across America made several stops in the Ohio Valley Wednesday .

People came out in Weirton, Folansbee, and Wellsburg with hope and thank you’s for soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice to our country.

Wreaths Across America Truck driver Daniel Medvec has been a driver with Prime Incorporated for nearly a decadedelivering produce.

But this is volunteer time for him, being a veteran himself, he knows the sacrifice made by these heroes.

“The feeling that your heart gives you for giving back. It’s almost like your heart’s alive, that you’re actually giving back to other people, and it makes you feel good,” said Medvec.

“Wreaths Across America” is a nationwide tour that lays wreaths at Arlington National Cemetery as well as other national cemeteries and memorial sites for the holiday season.

Their theme is “To Honor our Veterans, to remember our fallen, and to teach future generation.”

“It is just wonderful to see all of the volunteers. They say over 600,000 volunteers across the country lay the wreaths, so even a small snip-bit of that is at our Brook County memorial where we will being laying them on Saturday,” said Eric Fithyan with James Funeral Home.

150 boxes, that’s more than 1100 fresh wreaths, were delivered to the Ohio Valley to lay at various memorials.
