WTRF Salutes the 2017 Class of the Valley

On Friday, some of the brightest students across the Ohio Valley visited the WTRF studio to celebrate their next chapter.

Spirits were high as seniors from nearly 40 schools across the Valley came together to reminisce about high school, and to put on their caps and gowns to celebrate their futures.

Across the Ohio Valley, seniors are getting ready for their big day. To celebrate these hard working students, WTRF held their annual “Class of the Valley”. Each year, students are given a tour of the WTRF studio, and are provided with food from Ye Olde Alpha.

They’re also given the chance to have some fun, because an exciting chapter is just ahead.

“I’m really exited to try to be independent and succeed for myself and try try to learn more about the world and see what I can do,” said Wheeling Central Catholic senior Lexie Kosanovic.

“I’m very excited to be moving on and learning new things. I’m very interested in political science. it’s an interesting field to me but I’m kind of nervous to be leaving my family, friends and community behind,” added Beallsville High School senior Justin Riley.

High School is a time filled with sports, homework, and after-school activities, but many students said they’re thankful for what they learned from their friends, family, teachers, and classes.

“I definitely came out of my comfort zone a lot this year and talking to new people and I definitely built up my self-esteem, made me come out of my shell, and so I’m excited to take that to college,” said St. Clairsville High School senior Sarah Heidelbach.

Throughout the summer, WTRF will feature each school on-air, and will highlight the accomplishments of the Valley’s top seniors.

It’s an exciting time filled with graduation parties, family and more.

7News wants to wish a big congratulations to the class of 2017!
