WV Department of Ed. considers changes to curriculum

The West Virginia House Education Committee plans to meet with the State Board of Education president Monday to talk more about changes in required curriculum.

After recommending the state drops the educational standards based on Common Core last month, the West Virginia Department of Education is now considering changes to the state’s K through 12 grade math and English language arts standards.

The department so far has recommended new standards that include handwriting instructions in grades K through 4 and the expectation for students to learn multiplication tables by the end of third grade.
