It was a special Thursday evening at the Marshall County Chamber Dinner, where the leader of the largest university in the state was the featured speaker, West Virginia University President Dr. E. Gordon Gee.
Many businesses owners heard from the Mountaineer President about his long road back to Morgantown.
For a man that’s spoken all over the world, Thursday’s event inside the former Moundsville Penitentiary was a first for him.
“I’ve spoken at a lot of places, but this is definitely the first time I’ve ever spoke inside a prison,” said Gee.
Dr. Gee also talked about his ongoing effort to unify West Virginia University on all fronts.
“Educating our young minds is one of the most important things we can do, especially in West Virginia. We need to develop the future’s talent and keep them here,” added Gee.
WTRF is proud to be a part of the dinner.
