Belmont County

BELMONT COUNTY, Ohio (WTRF) – July 27th update: At a court hearing today for Kellie Wells, more discussion were requested by her side, further delaying the case. A pre-trial conference is now set for next Monday, August 3rd at 1:00 PM and a trial is scheduled for September 17th at 8:30 AM.

July 10th: A woman facing felony animal cruelty charges was scheduled to plead guilty on Friday morning.

However, Kellie Wells’ attorney asked for a two-week continuance to research the possible penalties.
He said he wanted to make sure she could only get community control sanctions, not prison time, before entering the pleas.

Wells is the mother of Shania Wells, who has a history of animal cruelty convictions, and is now facing more.
