The much talked about the demolition of the grandstands at Bill Jobko stadium at Perkins field in Bridgeport is one step closer to getting underway.
The Bridgeport School Board announced today the bid for the demolition has been awarded to Edgeco Incorporated out of Lansing.
Superintendent Zac Shutler says the total cost of the project will be just under $50 thousand.
“That facility has served the district and the area well for 100 years. Today we might be closing the chapter on that but it also give the district the opportunity to improve the facility for our students and our community and move forward,” Shutler said.
There is no word yet on exactly when the demolition work will begin but school officials say they hope it will be underway within the next few weeks.
