Bridgeport High Alumni to tour stadium one last time

Community

This weekend will most likely be an emotional one for many Bridgeport High School Alumni as it could be their last chance to visit Bill Jobco Stadium at Perkins Field.

As 7news reported previously, the century-old structure will soon be torn down.

The Bridgeport High School Alumni Association will be hosting a “Farewell to the Grandstands” event tomorrow from 10 a.m. to noon. They are inviting all former football players, cheerleaders, band members, and students for one last chance to take some photos of the long-standing structure.

“Many generations have sat in the grandstands and watched their kids, their grandkids, and so on and so forth,” said Pat McConnaughy, a trustee of the alumni committee. “We are just trying to give the community and the alumni, especially the ones from out of town that don’t make it back very often a final farewell to the grandstands.”

The Alumni Band and the High School Marching Band will be on hand. There will be refreshments and t-shirts for sale, and professional photographer Keith Stewart will take final group picture.
