Tears were shed and memories were shared at a candlelight vigil on Wheeling Island was held Friday evening.
The vigil was in honor of Rayna Shae Vaughan.
Vaughan was killed in her apartment on Wednesday night while her 2-year-old daughter was home with her.
Her friends organized the event Friday night to honor a person they said was a great young mother and had no enemies.
Several people took turns speaking about the kind of young lady Vaughan was and how dearly she’ll be missed.
Coordinator, Ohio Valley YoungLives, Leah Mick said, “We love being in the position where we get to honor and respect her life and we’re just so thankful that we got to know her.”
Childcare volunteer, Ohio Valley YoungLives, Lori Byhanna said, “To see Rayna’s little one grow up and just always a smile on her face and the bond between mother and daughter.”
There are plans in the works for a memorial service to be held here in Wheeling in the next week or so.
We’ll pass that information along once the plans have been finalized.
