The City of Wheeling has officially named their next city clerk.
According to Vice Mayor Chad Thalman, Brenda Delbert will take over the position.
Delbert was chosen from 15 candidates.
City council is set to hold final interviews Monday as the search continues for the next Wheeling City Clerk.
The 15 city clerk candidates have been narrowed down to three according to Vice Mayor Chad Thalman.
He said this hiring process is being taken especially seriously because the new hire is not only a face for Wheeling, but could be in that position for years to come.
The hiring process so far has included the City Manager and Human Resource Director who reviewed resumes and held the first round of interviews.
Three finalists were chosen and today city council, Vice Mayor Thalman and Mayor Elliott will hold the final interviews.
Thalman said the candidates are very excited about the position and qualified.
“Two of the final candidates are local and there is one person who is from Columbus who is moving to this area who is looking for a job locally,” said Thalman.
Current City Clerk Janice Jones will retire at the end of January so the goal is to hire someone within the next several weeks so the new clerk can train with Janice for about a month before taking over the position.
