Students in Wheeling are getting inspired to learn more about the world around them through a hands on science lesson.
Today, COSI on Wheels is making a stop at Steenrod Elementary. The traveling outreach program from Columbus teaches kids across Ohio and the surrounding states.
Steenrod students learn first about space, but the program also teaches about chemistry, ecology and more.
Program manager Katie Trausch said the goal is for the kids to get their hands dirty and be engaged in what they are learning.
“I think it’s cool to give them an idea of what they can be when they grow up, and just to actually give them a preview of what those scientists are doing in the field,” said Trausch.
Katie said they teach up to 500 students a day kindergarten through 6th grade. If you’d like to bring COSI on Wheels to your school visit cosi.org.
