Belmont County Sheriff Dave Lucas says a shoplifting arrest led to the discovery of a variety of illegal drugs.

Lucas says the loss prevention specialist at the Ohio Valley Plaza Wal Mart saw a man and woman shoplifting in the store.

When confronted, they ran outside in different directions, with the man heading toward Burger King and the woman going toward Kroger.

The sheriff says deputies apprehended the woman, who reportedly had what appeared to be crystal meth, cocaine, heroin, syringes, pills, a digital scale  and a large knife in her possession.

Lucas said they also found some items of jewelry that had been stolen from Wal Mart.

He says they arrested 23-year-old Taylor Ernest of Wheeling, and she reportedly tried to run when being placed in the cruister.

Lucas says she is now facing charges of drug trafficking, drug possession, carrying a concealed weapon, possession of drug abuse instruments, resisting arrest and receiving stolen property.

He said she posted $15,250 bond and was released from jail.

He said her male counterpart has not been found.
