DockDogs will be returning to the area this weekend, July 7 and 8.
The Marshall County Co-Op will be home to the two-day event, which benefits the Marshall County Animal Shelter.
Anyone is welcome to bring their dog to jump in the event, and the shelter hopes to have a few adoptable dogs participate as well.
“If your dog likes water, has a good toy drive, you can absolutely bring your dog out,” said Lisa Hudgens, Regional Representative for Dock Dogs. “Handlers have to be seven years old and dogs have to be six months old. Other than that come on! We’re open to any breed, any size, little ones, big ones, it doesn’t matter.”
Hometown favorite Mazie Mae will also be jumping. She was adopted from the Marshall County Animal Shelter and participates in Dock Dog competitions.
“I thought that was a really good way for us to get out there that you can get such great quality dogs, fun dogs, dogs that can do about anything at the animal shelter,” said Barb Scanlon wih the Marshall County Animal Rescue League.
The Marshall County Co-Op is located at 400 11th Street in Moundsville and says it’s excited to host the event, which used to be held at Cabela’s.
“We all love dogs,” said Marshall County Co-Op Manager Dave Voithofer. “Everybody that works here loves dogs. We hope to have them to come back next year and the year after.”
Practice and registration begins at 9:00 a.m both Saturday and Sunday.
