Don Nickerson attends first meeting as Ohio County Commissioner

WHEELING, W.Va. (WTRF) - The Ohio County Commission held its first meeting of 2019 on Tuesday night.

It was the first meeting for newly elected Commissioner Don Nickerson.

Nickerson, a Republican, defeated Democrat incumbent Orphy Klempa in November. He said his goal is to keep his constituents in mind.

"I listened to what people told me and people told me that they were interested in having responsive, transparent leadership," Nickerson said. "I know I'll get into more substantive issues as I go along, but starting out of the box that's what I'm focusing on because that's what people told me they wanted."

Nickerson was named Vice President of the Ohio County Commission during the meeting. Meanwhile, Tim McCormick was tabbed as Commission President.

The next Ohio County Commission meeting is set for Tuesday, January 22 at 6:00 p.m. inside the Ohio County Courthouse.
