He was a star athlete but an even better friend.
That’s how people remembered the life of Wheeling Park student-athlete Donnie Evans on Saturday.
Evans was shot and killed outside an apartment complex in Fort Worth, Texas.
He graduated from Wheeling Park in May 2018 and moved to Fort Worth shortly after high school.
At Wheeling Park, Evans was a star running back for the Patriots, rushing for more than 1,000 yards during the senior year.
Close personal friends of his say they can’t believe he is gone and miss him very much.
“He was very outgoing. Always smiling, always making sure people were like happy, always dancing,” said Donnie’s Friend, Alayna Crowe.
His friends also said it’s a shame to lose such an amazing person at such a young age and they plan to keep his memory alive.
“We know that he is watching over us so we just have to celebrate his life like he would want us to,” said Donnie’s Friend, Akiya Friar.
