Two major steps had been taken Tuesday evening to make the Highland’s Sports Complex a reality.

Ohio County Development Authority President, Randy Wharton, said the board awarded the construction of the foundation to the Colaianni Construction company based out of Dillonvale. They also sold the bonds necessary to pay for the construction of this facility.

The Highland’s Sports complex is expected to house indoor basketball courts and soccer fields, as well as two multi-purpose outdoor fields.

Wharton said these were the last two steps before we start to see the building going up and the actual construction should begin in the very near future.

The estimated cost of the project comes in right around $30 million.
