Ohio Valley residents from both sides of the river will have a chance to come together next Saturday for the area’s first-ever Operation Toy Lift.
This event is all about collecting toys for those in need this Christmas. The best part — local celebrities and VIPS will be featured up in a bucket.
Wheeling Police is partnering with the Belmont County Sheriff’s Office, the United Way, and AEP to make this event possible.
They say it’s all about raising hope for families in need.
“It’s an opportunity for the community to come together. We’re going to have fun. We’re going to be cold, but we’re going to have fun and it’s all for a great cause,” said Chief Shawn Shwertfeger with the Wheeling Police.
If you’d like to get involved, you can donate unwrapped, new toys on Saturday, December 16th, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The event will be taking place in the Macy’s parking lot at the Ohio Valley Mall.
Officials say volunteers are still needed though.
