Colonial costumes, old-school cooking and historical demonstrations, there’s an interesting way to enjoy your Labor Day: Fort Henry Days is happening in Oglebay Park this weekend.
Acknowledging its history, the event reenacts Wheeling’s colonial times during the Revolutionary War.
The event features a variety of vendors and demonstrations on things like blacksmithing and how people caught and cooked their food in the late 1700’s.
Jennifer Fox, Event Secretary, told 7-News, it’s the daily mock battles that really bring in the crowd.
“This year’s theme is the theme of the bloody seven, 1777, which was set after a series of ambushes…the natives kind of picked off little settlements here and there,” Fox said.
Fort Henry Days is happening all weekend from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. if you want to stop by.
