Free luncheon gives back to first responders

First responders from across Belmont County got a special treat Thursday afternoon. Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Home and Crematory hosted a free luncheon to those who serve our community.

St. Clairsville Police Chief Jeff Henry says, “It was a very nice turnout for us and we appreciate their thoughtfulness.”

They ordered boxed lunches from Riesbecks ranging from ham hoagies to chicken salad croissants.  Everyone enjoyed their hefty lunches and the first responders couldn’t be more grateful.

Chief John Slavik of Cumberland Trail Fire District in St. Clairsville says, “Our working cooperation with those organizations goes way beyond this. They’re for us all the time always helping us out.”

Sarah Barickman is the Outreach Director for Beck-Altmeyer Funeral Homes and she says they understand some parts of the tough job. “The 24 hour a day, 7 day a week job that they do does not go unnoticed. We as a funeral home are 24 hours a day, 7 days a week so we know the hard work that entails.”

The funeral home also hand delivered some of those boxed lunches to those who couldn’t make it out this afternoon.
