If you don’t have plans for your Saturday, consider taking some time for an Ohio Valley family in need.
A Hopedale family is holding a fundraiser for a paralyzed young man: Dustin Pratt.
Dustin, better known as Dutty to his friends, was injured in a swimming accident back in 2016.
As a result, he’s now paralyzed from the shoulders down.
He and wife wife remain strong through the countless medical bills and adjustments to their new life, but they need a little hope.
So on Saturday, community members are holding a fundraiser.
They’re offering 50/50 drawings, silent and live auctions for nearly 200 donated items.
But Dustin told 7News that the benefit is more than just raising money.
“I’d love to get my message out about diving into pools, especially since summer’s coming around. I’d love to put an end to that. As far as people coming, I haven’t seen a lot of people since my accident. I know there’s going to be a lot of people I’m going to see, so I’m excited about that,” Pratt said.
The benefit will take place at the Hopedale Volunteer Fire Department from one to six p.m.
Food will be available for a donation.
