Good Friday marks the final “No Meat on Friday” of the Lenten season for many across the Ohio Valley, which means it’s time to get your fish fix in.
On Friday, hundreds headed out to Coleman’s Fish Market for their Famous Fish Sandwich.
The line was out the door for most of the day as fish lovers, young and old, waited for a tasty snack.
“When I’m working in the area, I always make a special point to come here, especially on Good Friday. I don’t mind waiting in line, I’ll wait two hours if I have to,” said Bobby Carpenter, a Good Friday regular.
“It’s just a wonderful family tradition that goes back sixty, seventy years. We’re so pleased. We appreciate everybody that comes here,” Joe Coleman, owner of Coleman’s Fish Market.
Staff said their business nearly triples every Lenten season.
On Good Friday, they sell more fish sandwiches than on any other day of the year.
