It’s an important job to help shape the minds of tomorrow’s youth.
But Youth Services Systems in Wheeling is looking for responsible people to do just that.
All you have to do is apply and pass a background check.
From there, you’re assigned a child and building the relationship is in your hands.
You can go to the movies, make dinner together or even visit the car wash.
No matter what you do though, you’ll be making a new best friend.
“I’ve always enjoyed kids. So, once you pass all of their tests, then you get matched with a child. I just lucked out to be matched with a great kid and we have fun,” said Janet Lallathin, a mentor for The Youth Mentoring Network.
“I like it. We have fun going places together. She’s my friend,” added Mersady, a mentee in The Youth Mentoring Network.
If you would like to be a child’s mentor, you can register as an individual or a family.
