The saying that “one man’s trash is another man’s treasure” comes to life this week in Belmont County and beyond.
Wednesday, the Historic National Road Yard Sale gets underway. Over the years it has been called the 25-Mile Yard Sale. It gives people the chance to clean out closets and attics and pass along everything from clothing to furniture at bargain prices.
This year, instead of being just from Thursday through Saturday, it’s starting a day early on Wednesday and it’s actually part of a multi-state endeavor.
“We decided to advertise it for the four days and give people more time. It’s the largest yard sale in the country. It covers six states from Baltimore, Maryland to St. Louis, Missouri, which is a total of 824 miles,” said Belmont County Tourism Director, Barb Balint.
It’s free to join, all you have to do is set out a table along the road as long as you have permission from the property owner.
