The Wheeling Park High School class of 2018 received their diplomas and some words of encouragement at Sunday’s commencement ceremony.
The graduating class was made up of 335 students, including valedictorian Allison Holmstrand and salutatorian Rebecca Irwin.
United States Senator Joe Manchin delivered remarks to the graduates, reminding them that they have the power to make a difference in the world.
“I don’t have to tell you right from wrong. All of you know right from wrong. Let that compass guide you. Let that up bringing that your moms and dads, aunts and uncles, your brothers and sisters gave you and you are going to do well. You are the hope of the world. I believe in you more than you believe in yourself. Now you just got to go do it,” Manchin told the students.
The recipients of several scholarships were also announced.
This year’s recipients of the Patrick A. Clutter Scholarship are Ross Salvatori and Abigail Mulhern.
