Last minute shoppers out on Christmas Eve

Community

The countdown is on to grab any final gifts before Christmas Morning arrives!

The Ohio Valley Mall closes its doors at 6 tonight.

There were plenty of shoppers out and about this morning still looking for that special gift, the best deals, or as a way to kill time.

Wheeling Resident Donnie Gilbert said his dad is notorious for celebrating Christmas at the last minute and that is what brought them out on the holiday.

“That’s what makes it fun. Kind of running around and seeing what deals you can find that are left from previous weeks and we do this every single year on Christmas Eve morning,” said Gilbert.

Other people don’t usually make it a habit to come out on Christmas Eve but when they do it’s usually for last minute ideas.

Wellsburg Resident, Diana Saas said, “We’re doing last minute stocking stuffers for each other. We’ve got everything wrapped and ready to go but we decided to do stocking stuffers for each other this year.”

Others came to just relax.

Rayland Resident, Jennifer Sockman said, “Just killing time. We went to breakfast. Now we are just nibbing around looking for deals.”

Even good Ole Saint Nick was at the Mall today to make sure every kid had a chance to see Santa before the big day!

Santa, Dan Hoffman said, “Sleighs loaded up. I just have to get out of here this afternoon and head back to the North Pole and start my ride.”
