Some sad news to pass along, Wednesday night, after over a decade of service to the Friendly City, former Wheeling City Council woman Gloria Delbrugge has passed away.

Delbrugge served as the Ward 1 councilwoman for 12 years, behind many improvements in the Warwood neighborhood.

Vice Mayor Chad Thalman said he was saddened to learn of her passing yesterday morning.

She was the only woman on council for more than a decade.

Thalman also said Delbrugge was a leader and a mentor for many on city council.

“She was a mentor to a lot of us, when we were running for office, she gave us a lot of advice and kind of told us what the job entails so losing her is a big loss and our hearts and thoughts and prayers are with her family,” said Thalman.

Gloria is survived by her husband Robert, her son David, two granddaughters, one brother, and one niece.

Arrangements are at the Kepner Funeral home tomorrow from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. in Warwood.

Her Christian burial will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Corpus Christi Catholic Church
