Local high school student, pup brings home high title

What started out as a hobby for one area high school student recently took her and her pet all the way to the Big Apple.

Sarah Fox is a sophomore at Buckeye Local High School.

She started showing her pet collie at local dog shows when she was just 8-years-old.

Just recently, Fox found herself and her Smooth Haired Collie, Bandit, on the American Kennel Club’s biggest stage.

The duo took part in the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show at Madison Square Garden in New York.

Bandit won the Best of Breed competition.

“I was excited. I honestly didn’t think it was going to happen with all of the big competition with us versus the number one dogs in the country. I didn’t think we would get that far, but we did, and I thought I was going to pass out when he actually did the final count,” said Fox.

Fox said she plans on becoming a professional dog handler and wishes to eventually become a dog show judge.
