After collecting scarves and mittens during the winter, one Wheeling Jesuit University student is continuing her commitment to help the homeless with her new “Share the Love” project.
Don’ae Albert hopes to fill hundreds of gallon-sized ziplock bags with travel-sized personal hygiene items, snacks, water, and a positive note.
The drive is important to her because she knows what it’s like to need help.
“We lost our house to a fire on Valentine’s Day in 2013, and we lost everything, and starting from nothing you really empathize with these people, and you understand what it’s like, and I just don’t want anyone to feel that way,” said Albert.
Don’ae is partnering with Chatham University for this drive, and hopes to collect enough items for 200 bags for Wheeling and 200 bags for Pittsburgh.
You can drop off items at Catholic Charities, Vagabond Kitchen, or the House of Hagar.
There will also be a drop-off box on Wheeling Jesuit’s campus.
