Looking to educate local community about youth mental health issues

The National Alliance of Mental Illness (NAMI) of Greater Wheeling has taken major steps in helping educate and create more awareness when it comes to metal health issues for our youth.

Earlier today, members of NAMI hosted an eight-hour training session to show people how to respond to those with mental heath issues.

This all stems after research found that one of every five young people are living with a mental health condition. Half of those people develop the condition before the age of 14 and 75-percent before the age of 24.

Within this training, attendees not only learned more about facts and symptoms that come with mental illness, but also learned about how to create an action plan when dealing with someone who is suffering.

NAMI host similar events quarterly. If you would like to attend the next session, you can head on over to their Facebook Page at NAMI Greater Wheeling or go to their website www.namiwheeling.org
