Postal workers came together at Catholic Charities Saturday to help “Stamp Out Hunger” across the Ohio Valley and America.
Local letter carriers collected donations from homes across Wheeling and delivered them to Catholic Charities.
The food donations will be divided up and distributed to multiple different agencies.
“It certainly is a pretty active day, but seeing everything come in and seeing the fruits of what this community is able to bring together to help those that are having a hard time is really fulfilling and awesome to see,” said Corinne Chamberlin, outreach worker for Catholic Charities.
This is the 26th year for the nation-wide food drive initiative.
“Stamp Out Hunger” is the nation’s largest single-day food drive, and letter carriers nationwide have collected more than 1.6 billion pounds of food since its inception.
