Martin’s Ferry clergy member joins cracker plant discussion

It’s been the buzz around Belmont County.

Discussions about an ethane cracker plant settling into Belmont County are heating up.

Now, a Martin’s Ferry clergy member is joining the discussion.

Father Michael Ziebarth is teaming up with the Fresh Water Accountability Project to host public meetings addressing the health and environmental hazards of fracking.

Ziebarth said he recognizes the economic value, but we can’t ignore the risks.

“There’s some kind of balancing that has to be done. Obviously we need to have a vibrant economy here in the Valley but we need to look at all of the costs,” Ziebarth said.
