A new restaurant has opened quietly in the former Lebanon Bakery building in Center Wheeling.
“Sarah’s On Main” is the creation of Sarah Lydick, the long-time popular chef at Sandscrest.
Lydick has created her own signature eatery featuring European style pastries.
They include ham and cheese croissants, chocolate croissants and “morning buns” which are like cinnamon rolls in croissant dough.
“We have quiche Lorraine, quiche Florentine, and we’re doing a signature chocolate chip cookie that has sea salt and toffee bits,” she said. “And the salty bread, of course. We decided to create a breakfast sandwich that we put on the salty bread. It has scrambled eggs, cheese, bacon and caramelized onions.”
Sarah is especially well-known for her “salty bread,” which has been sold in several area businesses for years.
At present, Sarah’s On Main is only open for breakfast, from 6:30 to about 10 a.m.
But they plan to open for lunch as well in the next few weeks.
There’s also an outdoor courtyard where people can eat their breakfast and drink their coffee.
