Get your cowboy hats and boots ready!

This weekend at Wheeling Park Ice Rink, things are going to get wild, wild west that is. Country Western is the theme of this year’s “Rock the Runway” fundraiser for the YWCA Wheeling.

Rock the Runway is a New York-style fashion show to raise money for the YWCA so they can continue to provide education on teen dating violence prevention.

“We have a lot of local people that everybody would know to be models and we’re just excited,” said event coordinator, Bob Bailey.

Executive Director of the YWCA Wheeling, Lori Jones said, “A few years ago when the state of West Virginia took the money away from our teen dating violence prevention advocate, Bob Bailey stood up and said that “we can’t let this program go away”, so he has for the last three years has done a wonderful job of helping keep that program running. Now we have a teen dating violence advocate at Wheeling Park, one at John Marshall,  and a teen dating advocate in Wetzel County.”

The event is this Saturday, May 19th at the Wheeling Park Ice Rink. Everything starts at 7:30 with a cocktail hour before the fashion show and tickets are $40 each.

7News anchor Tate Blanchard will be a model for the event so you can contact him for your tickets or any of the other models, or buy them at the door the night of the event.
