The Ohio Department of Transportation met early this morning to address concerns about the recent construction of the University Boulevard intersection of Route 7 in Steubenville.
There’s a lot of confusion about the lane markings leading drivers onto the University Boulevard ramp.
ODOT Officials have decided to upgrade the current pavement markings to new high contrast ones that will help direct motorists into the proper lanes when turning left. With any new intersection officials want to remind drivers to slow down, avoid distractions, watch for pavement marking and signage.
“In addition to that we will also be adding raised pavement markings. Which are the reflectors that you can see in the pavement along the road way and these reflectors will reflect red to warn motorist that are driving the wrong way,” said Lauren Borell, the Public Information Officer of ODOT District 11.
Borell said these changes will take place as soon as possible as long as weather permits.
