MARSHALL CO., W.Va. (WTRF) - Commissioners have entered into an agreement to stock Dunkard Fork with rainbow trout.
At Marshall County Commission, Commissioner John Gruzinskas said that commissioners met with the DNR, who said the lake is in bad shape with silt and debris.
The DNR said they cannot get in to stock the lake, and believe the boat ramp will not be accessible soon.
Dunkard Fork is the only lake in Marshall County that is handicap accessible, and residents stressed the importance of the lake to area families.
Commissioners purchased 1,200 pounds of rainbow trout for over $4,000.
Because the state owns the lake, you will need a trout stamp if you would like to fish.
According to commissioners, the lake should be stocked by the end of this week.
