The Nutting Winter Sports Complex at Oglebay has officially kicked off the skiing and snowboarding season.
The complex opened at 4 p.m. Friday, and will remain open until 10.
Weather conditions over the past few days have been ideal for snow making, which has allowed the slopes to open on schedule.
Later this month, Oglebay will unveil a new snow tubing attraction for kids and adults.
There will also be ski and snowboarding lessons available, along with season passes.
“Right now we have the ski slopes open and as the cold weather continues, hopefully we can get our tubing shoots open in the not to distant future. This is the first year for tubing. We will have four tubing shoots. Obviously, they will take you down the slope and then come up on the toe rope. We are very excited to see how it goes. The great thing is you don’t have to be a great skier or snowboarder. All you really need is to have fun,” said Danny Ackerman, General Manager.
