Well it’s a very somber day here in Pittsburgh.
7News was at Squirrel Hill for several hours, talking with neighbors about what happened just a block away from where I’m standing now.
And while some say they were completely shocked, others said they’re not really surprised.
According to residents they have felt and seen anti-Semitism growing across the country.
But religion aside it’s a heartbreaking day for the city of Pittsburgh.
Squirrel Hill Resident, Sammy Balyasay said, “I didn’t’t think this could happen here. I thought, squirrel hill? I read notification after notification ‘shooting in squirrel hill facility.’ I got chills down my spine.”
Pittsburgh Resident, Mckenzie Carpenter said, “This is a very emotional thing for me. I’m not Jewish, but I’m very close to many people in this community who are. It’s just hit home like nothing before.”
Now, McKenzie told me she jumped in her car and came down here today because she felt she needed to pay her respects.
The investigation is ongoing and 7News will continue to bring you the latest information.
