Bellaire Village Administrator Scott Porter said it was circumstances beyond his control that prompted him to hand in his resignation in late April.
It was to take effect May 11th.
But meanwhile it has caused a flurry of drama within Village government.
The mayor reportedly refused to accept Porter’s resignation.
And Porter has now decided to stay on.
Village Administrator, Scott Porter said, “I felt that at the time it was my best interest to submit my resignation to the mayor. We’ve had some late evening discussions here recently and I have since decided to rescind my resignation with the Village of Bellaire and I’m gonna stay here and continue to do the public’s interest and try to get this all under control.”
Porter acknowledged the village has a number of challenges ahead including water problems and a financial shortfall.
He said, quote, “What we don’t want to do is take a step back and have to start over with a new administrator not familiar with what’s going on. We’re making progress, and we want to continue that.”
