Prestigious basketball tournament tipped off at WesBanco Arena

Fans are filling WesBanco Arena for the 12th annual Cancer Research Classic, the premier Catholic high school tournament in the U.S.

Not only do players get to showcase their talents, but they also are given an opportunity to learn more about men’s health. Games for the tournament started earlier today, and in-between games fans can get a free health screening.

One thing is for sure: the talent fans will see on the court for the next couple of days is certainly some of the best in the country.

“This is the best weekend of the year, its always fun being around basketball,” said Dr. Gregory Merrick, the founder and director of the CRC. “This weekends tournament hosts seven of the top 13 teams in the country.”

If you couldn’t make a game today, there are still several games featuring some of the top basketball prospects from across the country! Here is the slate for tomorrow:

Wheeling Central vs. Butler – 10:00 a.m.
Roselle Catholic vs. First Love Christian – 11:40 a.m.
Findlay Prep vs. Surise Christian – 1:20 p.m.
Montverde vs. La Lumiere – 3:00 p.m.
Bishop Gorman vs. Gonzaga – 4:40 p.m.
DeMatha vs. Norcross – 6:05 p.m.
Imhotep vs. McEachern – 7:45 p.m.
