Upgrades continue within the Indian Creek School District to get ready for the start of classes.

When students return on Aug. 27th, they will notice a few improvements throughout the district.

Repairs at Kettlewell Memorial Stadium have been made correcting weathered concrete in the stands, while the district’s transportation garage recevied a new coat of paint for the first time in over a decade.

Superintendent Dr. T.C. Chappelear said these are small projects the district wants completed before plans really get underway for their school enhancement project.

“The Controlling Board for the state of Ohio approved our funding in early August. We also just sold all of our bonds last wee,” Chappelear said.

“After that, we’re looking at architect and engineering firms, taking applications until October. Then hopefully we’ll have our architect hired by the end of December. So, that’s where we’re at right now.”

As part of its plan, Indian Creek will build new elementary and high schools in Wintersville.

Meanwhile, the existing Hills Elementary in Mingo Junction will receive extensive renovations.
