On Tuesday night, Moundsville Councilman David Wood withdrew his proposal to put the paid and volunteer fire departments under one roof.

Council members unanimously accepted his proposal at the meeting.

On February 20, dozens of firefighters from as far away as Weirton showed up at the Moundsville council meeting worried about the idea due to social media rumors circulating related to job cuts.

Wood said at that February meeting the proposal was made due to the potential cost of renovations to the police department building, saying it would be more efficient for both fire departments to work under one roof.
